New year, new you right? Listen, I know that everyone is beyond tired of hearing that, but a new year is a great time to reflect, plan and organize. A brand new year is one of the best times to really work on being our most productive selves.

So if you’re looking for tips on how to stop procrastinating and get things done in 2023, below are a handful of ideas that can help you stay on track and get you on the road to achieving your goals this year:

  • DON’T OVERWHELM YOURSELF. Be sure to break down your tasks into manageable chunks. When a task feels too overwhelming, it can sometimes stop you from wanting to do any of it. So break down tasks into smaller, bite-size steps that are easier to tackle.
  • DON’T BE OVERZEALOUS. Don’t overdo it in the name of trying to get it all done at once. Set realistic goals. Don’t try to do too much by setting realistic, achievable goals and just take it one step at a time.
  • TAKE A BREATH. Complete a task or three and take a break. Take regular breaks. Give yourself a break every now and then to reinvigorate, and refresh your mind.
  • CREATE A ROUTINE. Set a schedule for yourself and stick to it. Establishing a routine will help you stay focused and motivated. One of my routines is to write out a to do list. YES. An analog, handwritten list written out on paper where I cross out tasks as I complete them. I’ve tried different apps, and FOR ME, nothing works better at keeping me productive.
  • ELIMINATE DISTRACTIONS. Work from home? Turn off your tv. Limit your time on social media. Even click that “do not disturb” on your phone for a couple hours or so while you’re completing your tasks. Get rid of anything that can distract you and keep you from getting your work done.
  • AVOID PERFECTIONISM. Don’t let the perfect be the enemy of the good. Perfectionism can easily stop you from ever getting started. Just do your best and don’t be too hard on yourself.
  • PAT YOURSELF ON THE BACK. Reward yourself. Celebrate your successes and reward yourself for being productive and completing tasks.

By following these tips, you can definitely help yourself overcome procrastination and reach your goals in 2023. YOU CAN DO IT!
