The brand has become a popular choice among celebrities, with many of them opting for Telfar bags as a fashionable and sustainable choice. But who is Telfar Clemens?
Telfar Clemens is a Liberian-American fashion designer based in New York City. He is best known for his unisex fashion line Telfar, which he launched in 2005, and his handbags became more and more popular, they became known as the “Bushwiwck Birkin.” (Some of the fashion girlies briefly got in their feelings about Beyonce’s comparison of the Telfar bag to Hermes Birkin) He has earned praise for his innovative designs, which often challenge traditional notions of gender and identity. Telfar launched his bag in the fall of 2014, but it didn’t really gain traction until 2017 when he won the CFDA Vogue Fashion Fund, and by then Telfar Clemens had been designing clothes for a decade. Clemens describes his brand as ”genderless, democratic, and transformative.”
