I always loved the 2003 movie “Something’s Gotta Give” that stars Diane Keaton and Jack Nicholson and I never realized at the time of the films release how much those aesthetics jumped out at me. I’m also a fan of the Netflix series “Grace and Frankie” that stars Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin (I watch it with my Grandma and we both laugh and laugh…) where Jane Fonda’s Coastal Grandmother chic is on full display.
How would I define Coastal Grandmother style? “Coastal Grandmother” really makes me think of classic Polo Ralph Lauren, and it also makes me think of breathable linen, lightweight cashmere scarves, flowy maxi dresses, and crisp white pants. Coastal Grandmother chic says I regularly holiday in the Hamptons or Martha’s Vineyard or I own a 2nd home in one of those places and I also throw fabulous house parties in my Atlantic ocean facing yard, where I have yummy fresh seafood on the menu complete with charcuterie boards and chilled white wine served in my best glassware.
