TRAVEL BLOGGING THE OMNI HOTEL CNN CENTER IN ATLANTA

A little background on me and my hotel tastes before getting into this review because I can be a bit of a hotel snob. Now, I don’t say that with the least bit of pride behind it, because it can certainly get a little embarrassing and out of hand. Just ask my husband. I just have exacting and discerning taste when it comes to where I lay my head. Clean, new and 3.5 stars or more is where I tend to be the most comfortable. But even at a 5 star, I still have my rituals with disinfecting wipes. Yes, really. No need for me to say any more than that.

Ron and I were recently invited and traveled to Atlanta, Georgia for the Travel South Showcase at the end of February, 2011 and we stayed at the Omni Hotel CNN Center in the heart of Atlanta’s downtown. It’s a beautiful albeit a massive property (it has a North and South Tower) that also houses CNN World Headquarters. To try and keep this review short and sweet, here are a few bullet points of what I liked and didn’t like about the Omni Hotel CNN Center in Atlanta, Georgia.

What I liked:
THE LOCATION – Located in the heart of downtown Atlanta, right across the street from scenic Centennial Olympic Park, and walking distance from a few major Atlanta attractions, you’re right in the middle of the action when you stay here.

THE GUEST ROOMS – At 1,070 square feet, you’re getting a nice bit of room at this hotel, and every room at the hotel is non-smoking. Oh, and the VIEWS. You’ll either have views of the downtown Atlanta skyline, the CNN Center Atrium or Centennial Olympic Park. We had views of downtown and the park and the floor to ceiling windows made those views that much nicer.

CNN RIGHT ON SITE
: The Omni Hotel and CNN World Headquarters are all housed on the same property which makes it convenient if taking a CNN Tour is on your vacation agenda.

THE SERVICE: I can’t speak for anyone else, but we received excellent service at this hotel. From the valet staff, to the main desk check in staff, to the housekeeping staff, the service was top notch.

What I didn’t like:
THE SIZE: I won’t say I didn’t like the massive square footage, rather let me say that the overall size of this hotel took some getting used to. A few times we made wrong turns, ended up in the opposite tower and had to ask directions, but really, I didn’t consider that that much of a biggie.

And that’s pretty much it! We enjoyed our time in Atlanta for the Travel South Showcase, made some wonderful connections, and we were quite comfortable at the Omni Hotel CNN Center during our stay. Would we stay there again? Absolutely.
