TRAVEL BLOGGING THE PRESCOTT HOTEL SAN FRANCISCO

Our recent trip to San Francisco bought us to the Prescott San Francisco, a boutique hotel in the heart of Union Square. The Prescott is in the Kimpton Hotel family which boasts boutique hotels from California to Washington D.C. What is it about boutique hotels? I think what makes these hotels special is that they’re more intimate and they take pride in going the extra mile for you and I appreciate that.

I booked our hotel stay online, and shortly after, I sent an email letting the hotel know in advance about our travel plans and the special occasion we were celebrating (our 15th wedding anniversary). I asked nicely in my email if they could accommodate any complimentary upgrades for the occasion. I got a personal return email from a Senior Reservations Coordinator the next day and immediately I was like, “wow!” she told me that although they couldn’t promise anything, she would indeed put the information in the computers notes. I sent a follow up email thanking her for her response and her time.
When we arrived to the hotel and started checking in, I had all but forgotten that I had even contacted the hotel, when our check in agent asked us after giving him our names and I.D’s “so, it’s your 15th anniversary?” We were both like, “yes!” He told us “Happy Anniversary!” then he let us know that we were upgraded to a Club Level suite, which included complimentary breakfast each morning. Score one for the Prescott San Francisco! When we got to our room, we found a personal note attached to two glasses and a bottle of chilled champagne. The Prescott was on a roll honey.

Looking around, Ron and I kept trying to figure out what previous hotel we stayed in that the Prescott San Francisco reminded us of. It’s an older property which lends itself to loads of character. Then suddenly we remembered. It was Club La Pension on Decatur Street in New Orleans! We stayed at La Pension one Valentines Day and both of these hotels had the same type of warm and welcoming vibe.

Breakfast every morning at the Prescott San Francisco was at Postrio(a Wolfgang Puck eatery) they let you seat yourself, so we always made sure to sit by one of their floor to ceiling picture windows. Since it was December, they had beautiful red poinsettias right outside. Nice.

I really couldn’t find many issues with the Prescott San Francisco, from the location (great!) to our room (fab!) to the Ralph Lauren Sheets and pillows (I must have a set of these in my life) to how on time their housekeeping department always was. The Prescott San Francisco went over and beyond to make our wedding anniversary special so our stay there was definitely a win.
