My DIY maxi kimono with pockets is a pattern hack that I did from a New Look jumpsuit and maxi dress pattern that you can check out for yourself HERE. What I did was turn the maxi dress (View B) into my maxi kimono duster and added pockets because of course.
The Thrifty Stitcher defines pattern hacking as “making changes to a sewing pattern that will create a design that’s different from the original.” I like to think of it as hiring a pattern maker to get you close enough to a design you want to make where you can make your own small (or sometimes larger) changes to achieve your style.
